Consultancy

At TS-Space Systems we have over 30 years of experience in vacuum physics along with a fully kitted laboratory. If you have designed your test and wish us to carry it out, we are happy to do so. If you would like some friendly advice on possible ways of conducting your experiment, we are pleased to do that too.

If your testing needs a special part to be designed and built we have access to skilled instrument engineers who will oblige. In short, we offer our test facilities and can be involved in the process as much or as little as the customer would like.

TS Space Systems Consultancy

We can accommodate most requirements for thermal vacuum and thermal cycling tests with a range of pre, post and in-situ measurements available. Full digital logs of temperature, pressure, RGA and TCQCM data are also available on request.

We can be involved from the design stages of your test through to execution and reporting, or if you prefer to set it up yourself we can accommodate technician visits for the setup and retrieval of samples.

Rapid Thermal Cycling

  • With over 30 years of experience in the field, TS-Space Systems can design and build custom rapid thermal cycling chambers for most test requirements.

Our rapid thermal cycling chamber is designed to cycle at atmospheric pressure in inert gas at between 2 to 12 minutes dependent on sample size, mass and temperature range (+200°C to -180°C available). Higher temperatures are possible.

    • Designed to cycle at atmospheric pressure in inert gas

    • Custom designed hybrid GN2/LN2 cooling

    • Heating via IR

    • Full software control and data logging via dedicated PC

    • Cycle time 2-12 minutes (dependent on sample size, mass, temperature range)

    • Maximum temperature range: +200°C/-180°C

    • Design can be tailored to customer requirements

High Intensity UV Testing

  • Having a strong background in both vacuum physics and solar simulaton, we were asked to develop a high intensity UV testing aparatus as part of the ESA Solar Orbiter mission.

The customer later requested a high temperature component which required further adaptation of the aparatus.

    • Sample his held under high vacuum @ 350-500°C (customer can select)

    • UV source is a 4kW HMI lamp.

    • Accelerated UV testing is available via increased Solar Constant (SC).

    • SC can be varied up to 40xSC @ 50x50mm sample size (maximum). Higher SC can be achieved over a smaller area.

    • Broadband UV exposure range from 300-400nm. VIS-IR spectrum also present.

    • Temperature monitored and logged via two calibrated K-Type thermocouples, held either side of the sample, for duration of test.

    • Relative lamp output monitored and logged via fibre-optic.

    • Reflectance/Transmission measurements can be conducted at various break-points throughout the test (specified by customer) in order to track sample degradation with respect to UV exposure.

High Flux Beam Concentrator

  • With increasing interest in concentrator space power applications, we were asked to design and develop a concentrator solar simulator capable of a producing high intensity beam (50 up to 1200 suns).

  • Two systems were designed and built as proof of concept instruments.

The first provides a ‘Class A’ spectral match beam at 600 or 1200 suns over a 10x10mm area.

The second provides a close match (similar to our Unisim range of simulators) at a concentrated intensity of 40-50 suns.

TS Space Sytems is a very competent and professional company. They always provided us with results and advised us on the best technical solutions to achieve our testing needs. They always looked forward to improve and develop processes to meet our stringent requirements.
